Renovated RVs
Why Renovate an RV?
In all the decades I have been RV-ing I have yet to see a unit that fulfills everything on my checklist. For example we would like a travel trailer rather than a fifth wheel but not a single floor plan compares to what we have. The best compromise right now is to keep the fifth wheel and dress her up, so to speak. We have already accomplished quite a bit over the years but things are becoming old and worn, and others just do not work for us any longer.
What might accomplish in a renovation?
Starting with the essentials like water heater, fridge, axles, A/C, and furnace to name a few. All might not be renovations, but some might. A tankless water heater instead of the old familiar kind, a heat pump instead of just an A/C unit might be the ticket. Simple moving furniture can help. Our trailer has opposing slides with the entertainment center in one slide. The couch sleeper was in the other slide. Two recliners were at the back of the rig. Anyone in a recliner had to turn right ninety degrees to watch television.
We removed the couch and the cheaper RV recliners and installed two very nice residential recliners in their place. Visitors do not stay the night so having a sleeper plus recliners was not working for us. Other simple things such as replacing wall power sockets with ones that have built-in USB chargers made things easier. A Costco heat pump helps the rig stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
