RV Maintenance, Tips, and Tricks
Maintenance, Tips, and Tricks
When I started RVing in the early 1990s, manufacturers were proud of their workmanship, and today that does not seem to be true. Because of this, regular maintenance is absolutely a must. Back in those days I never worried about wheel bearings, but now it is one of the things I am most concerned about because we have already encountered a failure.
What about tips and tricks?
One thing I have learned over the years is that there is always a better way to do things. It is fun to try to find a solution to a need one might have. For example, our trailer came woefully weak in the electrical department. We even had to throw a switch to alternate between using the microwave OR the fireplace! We thought about it a while and came up with a solution to add a 20A line into the rig and separate circuits.
As far as creature comforts, we removed the couch and the cheaper RV recliners and installed two very nice residential recliners in their place. We do not have visitors spend the night so all we need is our bed. Other simple things such as replacing wall power sockets with ones that have built-in USB chargers made things easier. A Costco heat pump helps the rig stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
