Another great New Year’s Eve

New Years Eve 2018 was great fun as always. Our international dinner club meets each New Years Eve for our annual get-together. We all contribute to the food and drink so everyone is surprised and delighted by the tasty treats. At about 10pm I go out to the fire pit and get a good bonfire going. It usually takes about 90 minutes or so, while I set up a table with the glasses and Prosecco. We live on the side of the mountain above the lake so looking out at the landscape while listening to people having fun at a distance almost makes me feel like I am the only person on the mountain even though I can hear many people reveling. This is one of the best times of the night for me because I listen to the people enjoying fireworks, parties, and just having fun while the countdown continues. It is cold and my face is warmed by the fire as I enjoy waiting. At about 11:30pm we are ready for the next step, which is fireworks.

Cheri takes our friends out front and does her fireworks, and afterward everyone makes their way to the back yard for the bonfire. Everyone gets their Prosecco and we cheer the coming new year while we wait for the countdown. by glasses of Prosecco around the bonfire. Next comes gaming, and of course, snacks, leftovers, and a glass of fine wine. Sandy is the game host, and never fails to deliver a fun filled evening of fun playing cards (or some kind of game).

Sometimes we enjoy a Hallmark movie or two, or maybe a Game of Thrones marathon (while the guys sleep).

Typically friends spend the night, and in the morning, more celebration with espresso lattes and of course breakfast. This is definitely an annual event that I always eagerly anticipate and New Years Eve 2018 certainly delivered.
