Spending time on the back deck

It’s a good life when you can enjoy perfect weather and perfect food. One of our favorite activities is to enjoy the sun and perfect temperatures as often as we can in early spring, especially if the winter has been hard. Here we are enjoying a Cava and gravlax with cream cheese and capers – no crackers needed. I made the gravlax myself following a recipe a friend had given me years ago. You need the freshest fish of course, so I always get mine from Costco. The fish takes almost a week to prepare, so the anticipation makes the final product even more delicious.

Serving the fish is easy: pick up a slice of gravlax, spread on cream cheese, and top with thinly sliced onion and a few capers. Pop it into your mouth for a burst of flavor. Chase it with the Cava and you have a wonderful taste treat.

The sparkling wine was dry and crisp with a hint of citrus. The weather was perfect, as was the company.

Yeah, one can say that it’s the good life when it is like this
