Nordic Skiing at Farragut
Nordic Skiing is excellent exercise
Nordic skiing at Farragut State Park is one our favorite activities in North Idaho. The weather was good, but a bit on the warm side in town where we saw a mixed snow/rain precipitation. As we approached Farragut, the temperature fell toward a low of 26F at the park. Snow was falling as we readied ourselves for the planned 5.5K ski adventure. The snow was deep and the trail had already been groomed twice that day. The photo album below spans three visits to the park in a week span. The first day we only did the 3.5k run because my skis picked up so much ice I had to walk most of the way. However, the other two times were perfect days. When we returned to the truck that first day, we enjoyed cheese, crackers, and beef jerky. All in all, we had a good day, but took the shorter 3K loop because I was basically using my skis as snowshoes. Sure did manage to do some fine aerobic exercise though! First stop on the way home was the Ski Shack on Government Way for some advice on wax. The kid sold us some easy “wax” that is put on before each days run. We’ll see how well it works.
We also stopped at Paragon Brewing for Scotch eggs and beer each time on the other two days. What a great way to end Nordic skiing at Farragut.
Looks like you had a great day. Farragut looks much different in the winter.
It was a great day Gary, even though I had to walk the trail in my skis due to my failure to wax the skis!
